Isamu Noguchi

At the Isamu Noguchi Museum in Long Island City, Queens. The museum is in Noguchi’s former studio. He located there due to the proximity to wholesalers of marble and other architectural stones which were used prominently in his sculpture. He is best known today for midcentury furniture design such as his coffee table, called simply the “Noguchi table” and for his reinterpretations of tradition Asian paper lanterns, the Akari series.
